Nigel is the Compliance Officer for Liberty Mutual’s Global Retail Markets, U.S. (Personal Market Insurance in the U.S.) In this role, Nigel leads an organization that provides and manages compliance risk consultation and mitigations for all its GRM U.S. operations, as well as leads the fraud prevention strategy. Prior to this position, he served as Corporate Counsel in Liberty Mutual’s Home Office where he oversaw the defense of Class Actions, Extra-Contractual Litigation in the Southern Region of the United States and Bankruptcy proceedings of large Commercial Entities insured by Liberty Mutual. He has extensive trial experience having tried countless jury trials in, both, State and Federal Courts. Nigel and a colleague created the Virtual Hearing Guidelines for the Boston Municipal Court to use in response to the Pandemic. He serves as Faculty at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) Workshop, Harvard Law School Trial Advocacy Workshop and Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education Trial Workshop. He is the past Chair for the BBA’s Insurance And Tort Section, Personal Injury & Medical Malpractice Committee, as well as the Massachusetts Practice & Procedure Committee. He is a 2015 Appointee of Governor Charlie Baker to the Industrial Accident Nominating Panel and a 2021 Appointee to the Judicial Nominating Commission. In addition to his professional affiliations, Nigel remains actively involved in civic projects on both the national and local level. He is a graduate of San Diego State University and Western New England University School of Law.
