Nigel is Senior Counsel and Head of Litigation at Keolis North America. Prior to this position, he was an Executive at Liberty Mutual Insurance Group where he led Compliance for Liberty Mutual’s, Global Retail Markets, U.S. (Personal Market Insurance in the U.S.) In this role, Nigel led an organization that provided and managed compliance risk consultation and mitigations for all our GRM U.S. operations, as well as leads the fraud prevention strategy. Prior to this position, he served as Senior Corporate Counsel in Liberty Mutual’s Home Office where he oversaw the defense of Class Actions, complex/high value Litigation and Bankruptcy proceedings of large Commercial Entities insured by Liberty Mutual. Before his Corporate Counsel roles, Nigel was a Trial Attorney in Boston Law Firms where he specialized in the litigation of complex/high value civil cases. He has extensive trial experience having tried countless jury trials in, both, State and Federal Courts.
Nigel is Faculty at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) Workshop and the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education Trial Workshop. He is a Trustee on the Boston Bar Foundation (BBF) Board of Trustees and serves on the BBF’s Executive Committee. He served as a Council member on the Boston Bar Association (BBA) Council, the Nominating Committee and the Grants Committee. Beforehand, he Co-Chaired the BBA’s Law Day, Chaired the BBA’s Insurance And Tort Section, Personal Injury & Medical Malpractice Committee, as well as the Massachusetts Practice & Procedure Committee.
Attorney Long was appointed by (former) Governor Charlie Baker to the Judicial Nominating Committee (JNC) and to the Industrial Accident Nominating Panel. In addition to his professional affiliations, Nigel remains avidly involved in Community Service projects on, both, a National and Local level. He serves on the Board of Directors for the DELTA Research And Educational Foundation and served on the Board for DEAF, Inc. In April, 2019, Nigel was privileged to serve as a Speaker at the Simmons Leadership Conference.
