Maria Durant is a partner in Hogan Lovells’ Litigation and White-Collar Defense group, advising life sciences and health care executives and companies in connection with criminal, civil, and regulatory enforcement matters as well as related complex civil litigation. With a career spanning three decades, Maria’s experience includes directing internal investigations and defending government investigations and prosecutions involving alleged violations of the Anti-Kickback Statute; False Claims Act; Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act; and many other federal and state laws frequently used by government agencies and whistleblowers. Maria’s clients recognize the value that her enforcement experience and deep industry knowledge bring to all matters and regularly engage her to defend against parallel civil litigation including complex mass tort actions. Committed to the communities in which she works and lives, Maria is a founding member of the Women in White Collar Defense Association, Co-Chair of its Boston Chapter, a member of the Emeritus Board of the Women’s Bar Foundation in Massachusetts, and an Adjunct Professor at Suffolk University Law School. Maria has a long and active history with the BBA, which includes previous stints as a Council member and Co-Chair of the Boston Bar Association’s Amicus Committee, among other committees.
