Chris Hart is an experienced civil litigator and human rights lawyer with a focus on cybersecurity and global data protection. He Co-Chairs both Foley Hoag’s Privacy and Data Security practice and the firm’s DE&I Counseling, Defense, and Investigations practice. Chris counsels clients—ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies—on data privacy and cybersecurity compliance, incident response, government investigations, and litigation stemming from an organization’s data management and governance practices. Chris has successfully counseled hospitals, tech companies, financial institutions, cannabis and energy clients, and non-profits concerning data security incidents. As a civil litigator, Chris has successfully represented clients in products liability, complex tort, and class action matters. At the BBA, Chris is past Co-Chair of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Section. He is currently a member of the BBA Council and the Privacy, Cybersecurity, and Digital Law Section’s Steering Committee. He is also an alumnus of the BBA’s Public Interest Leadership Program and has served as a member of the Beacon Award Selection Committee. Beyond the BBA, Chris serves as a member on the SJC Standing Advisory Committee on Rules of Appellate Procedure, the Board of YW, and Advisory Board of the Trustees of Reservation Committee. He is also President of the Boston Hispanic National Bar Association’s Region 1 (New England), and Chair of the Equity & Justice for All Committee in the Town of Milton. He is a graduate of Harvard University, St. John’s College, and Duke University School of Law.
