David Solet serves as the Chief of the Cold Case Homicide Unit of the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office. He has previously served as the Chief of the MDAO’s Cyber Protection Unit, and as the office’s General Counsel. He has prosecuted offenders in cases involving murder, child exploitation, narcotics trafficking, public corruption, and organized crime, and has trained police and prosecutors in a wide variety of topics including search warrants, wiretaps, digital evidence, and the law of weapons. From April 2015 to March 2019, David served as the Chief Legal Counsel of the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS), where he advised the Commonwealth’s Secretary of Public Safety on legal and legislative affairs, chaired the Massachusetts Witness Protection Board, and was a member of the Illegal Tobacco Task Force. He is a former co-chair of the Boston Bar Association’s Criminal Law Steering Committee and was a member of the BBA’s Working Group on State Gun Control Issues and the BBA’s Death Penalty Working Group. He also serves as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, United States Army Reserve, where he been a Special Victims Counsel and Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) legal advisor. In his current assignment, he serves as defense counsel for military service members, as a member of the 154th Legal Operations Detachment (TDS). David graduated from Princeton University in 1998, and from Harvard Law School in 2001.
