Kevin is a partner in WilmerHale’s Litigation/Controversy practice, where he represents leading life sciences and technology companies in major disputes involving intellectual property and other commercial matters. A member of the firm’s Management Committee, he also maintains a deep pro bono practice and commitment to serving the community. He currently represents a class of individuals in a high profile immigration case against the Department of Homeland Security. He is also a monitor for one of the country’s oldest consent decrees governing the hiring practices of entry-level police and firefighters in communities across Massachusetts.

Part of the BBA’s mission is to facilitate access to justice. Kevin’s participation in Geddes v. City of Boston lived up to that mission, seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our community. His work to ensure that, while addressing complicated public health and public safety issues, our government officials continue to respect and protect the civil rights and civil liberties of all of the residents of the Commonwealth regardless of their socioeconomic status is both vital and necessary. It is my privilege to acknowledge and honor that work. As lawyers, we need to work collaboratively with others to advance efforts to decriminalize and destigmatize poverty, mental health issues, and substance use disorders.

The Thurgood Marshall Award was created to acknowledge and recognize private bar attorneys in greater Boston for their extraordinary efforts to enhance the human dignity of others through improving, developing, or delivering civil or criminal legal services to low-income clients in Massachusetts.

“I’m honored to present The Beyond Roe Coalition with the BBA President’s Award at our October 18 Annual Meeting. In the midst of a national tide of anti-abortion legislation and public policy, The Beyond Roe Coalition is preserving and protecting a person’s fundamental right to reproductive freedom. The advocacy agenda advanced by The Beyond Roe Coalition not only ensures that the intent of the Roe Act is fully actualized in Massachusetts, but that Massachusetts continues to stand as a model of how to protect and advance reproductive justice.”
