Former Solicitor General Theodore Olson to Keynote 2013 Annual Meeting

The Boston Bar Association's Annual Meeting Luncheon will feature Theodore Olson as the 2013 keynote speaker on Friday, September 27th at the Boston Convention Center.

Olson served as the Solicitor General of the United States from 2001-2004 under President George W. Bush. He is currently a partner in the Washington D.C. office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. Since 2009, Olson has been at the forefront of the gay marriage debate, challenging Proposition 8 in the California District Court and going on to argue the case before the U.S. Supreme Court in March of this year. For his work on the issue, Time magazine selected him as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2010.

In 2000, Olson represented presidential candidate George W. Bush in the Supreme Court case Bush v. Gore , effectively ending the recount of the 2000 Presidential election. Olson has argued 59 cases before the Supreme Court, prevailing in over 75% of those arguments. He is considered one of the nation’s premier appellate and United States Supreme Court advocates.
