With the John & Abigail Adams Benefit more than three months away, the premier charitable fundraiser for the Boston Bar Foundation (BBF) has already attracted more than $270,000 in sponsorship commitments from 32 law firms and companies. The Benefit, scheduled for the evening of Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, is being co-chaired by Christopher Kenney of Kenney & Sams and Anthony Froio of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi.
“The fact that the Adams Benefit is able to draw such significant support during the ‘quiet period,’ before we have even named our honoree, underscores two things: the generosity of Boston’s legal and business communities, and the credibility of the Boston Bar Foundation in its grant making activities,” said Kenney.
The 2011 Adams Benefit raised some $610,000 and drew a crowd of 900 guests. Funds raised from the event were combined with IOLTA proceeds and other BBF funds to make $1.1 million in grants to 25 legal services organizations.
“The BBF enjoys a reputation for doing serious due diligence to ensure that grants are made to well-run organizations that will put the monies to the best possible use while also stimulating innovation and creativity in meeting the needs of the community,” said Froio. “We know people and institutions have lots of choices in how they allocate their charitable contributions. Supporting the Adams benefit is a sound philanthropic choice.”
