Following news that the Massachusetts House of Representatives has passed a $154 million supplemental budget that includes an additional $12 million in direct funds and $8 million in retained revenue fee collections for the state Trial Courts, Boston Bar Association President Lisa C. Goodheart issued the following statement:
“We are grateful to the House for the action taken today. The Massachusetts Trial Courts are so woefully underfunded that despite the diligent efforts of judges and staff to serve the public, the reality is that our courts cannot function in some very essential ways without additional money. We implore the Senate to support the supplemental funding measure announced today.”
