Stiff Competition Expected for Beacon Award Honoring Diversity & Inclusion

Press Release

Highlighting its commitment to building a more diverse and inclusive legal profession in the Greater Boston area, the Boston Bar Association today announced that nominations are now being accepted for the 2nd Annual Beacon Award, to be presented at a special reception in early November. The Beacon Award recognizes exceptional leadership in creating a lasting impact and illuminating a new path towards a more diverse and inclusive legal community in Greater Boston.

Mass Mutual won the Beacon Award in 2010. According to criteria for the award, individuals, groups, and institutions are eligible. The Beacon Award Committee, co-chaired by Julia Cosentino and Wendell Taylor, will consider work in all or some of these areas: legal scholarship, recruitment and retention practices, pro bono, community service, legal advocacy, and legislative advocacy. The award recipient must either be located in Massachusetts or have had a significant impact in Massachusetts and/or the Greater Boston Community.

Submit your nominations, your contact information, and any supporting materials you wish to be considered to Hleary@bostonbar.org by April 26, 2011.

The Beacon Award was developed by the BBA’s Diversity & Inclusion Section.
