Senate Budget Offers a Mixed Bag

During last week’s budget debate in the State Senate, legislators rejected two amendments backed by the BBA, seeking more funding for both MLAC and the SJC. But two line-items for CPCS were increased, and language to provide much-needed reform of the state’s laws on home-equity theft was adopted. Once the Senate and House name their respective members of a conference committee—tasked with negotiating the differences between their two bills in a final budget to deliver to the Governor—we will ask for their support on these and other BBA priorities.
