Pierce Atwood Becomes Boston Bar Sponsor Firm

Press Release

The Boston office of Pierce Atwood, a firm twice named to the National Law Journal’s “Midsize Hot List”, and the only New England law firm selected for the honor, has become a Boston Bar Association Sponsor Firm. Inclusion on the “Hot List” requires that a firm “have demonstrated innovative strategies to stay competitive, developed new business strategies, formed new practice areas or creatively managed their team of attorneys.”

“Pierce Atwood has a reputation for top notch legal talent, and a demonstrated commitment to public service and engagement with the organized bar,” said BBA President Lisa C. Goodheart. “The Boston Bar Association looks forward to having the firm’s lawyers and staff on our team as we work to advance professional excellence, access to justice, and serve the community.”

A firm that takes great pride in its diversity and inclusion program, Pierce Atwood participated in the BBA’s 2011 Summer Jobs Program, an initiative providing inner city Boston public school students with paid internships and academic enrichment. Along with its panoply of activities to help young people wherever the firm has offices, Pierce Atwood supports its lawyers and staff in their pro bono activities.

Pierce Atwood has been singled out for its pro bono service to GLAD. The firm has also deployed significant pro bono resources on asylum cases. Among Pierce Atwood lawyers holding leadership positions at the BBA are Donald R. Frederico, immediate past president, and Kevin Handly, co-chair of the new Financial Services Section. Kathleen King Parker is a past chair of the Tax Section.

“Based on our experience in Maine and New Hampshire, where our lawyers know first hand the value of bar involvement and the importance of pro bono and community service, we look forward to becoming more involved in the BBA,” said Gloria Pinza, Managing Partner of Pierce Atwood. “As we become a citizen of the Boston legal community, we are proud to become a Sponsor Firm.”

With more than 130 attorneys serving regional, national and international clients, the firm has offices in Portland and Augusta, Maine; Portsmouth, New Hampshire; Boston, Massachusetts; Providence, Rhode Island; Stockholm, Sweden, and Washington, D.C.
