The Boston Bar Association today announced that Pepper Hamilton, whose downtown Boston office houses 34 of their over 500 attorneys, has become a sponsor firm. Pepper Hamilton is a multi-practice firm serving a range of clients, from individuals to leading businesses. Established in 2006, the Boston office of Pepper Hamilton focuses on corporate and securities, corporate restructuring and bankruptcy, tax, complex corporate and commercial litigation, patent litigation, and other intellectual property matters.
“The Boston Bar Association is a widely respected institution, and we share its values of community responsibility, diversity and inclusion, and excellence in the profession,” said Todd Feinsmith, Managing Partner of Pepper Hamilton in Boston. “This partnership will allow us to lend our support to their initiatives and participate in their programs more fully.”
Both diversity and pro bono work are a priority firm-wide, and the Boston office of Pepper Hamilton is no exception. For example, beginning in March 2011, Pepper’s Boston office has partnered with the Economic Justice Project, an arm of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law of the Boston Bar Association, which combats race and national origin discrimination through litigation, minority community economic development, and legal assistance. Several lawyers in the Boston office work with EJP to help budding entrepreneurs and others in the Haitian community in Mattapan, MA through workshops, legal clinics, and other pro bono representation.
Additionally, Pepper Hamilton designates a “Green Team” and “Green Steward” in each office to promote sustainability initiatives. In the Boston office, the Green Team has implemented several steps to raise environmental consciousness. Not only is the Pepper Hamilton building Gold LEED certified, but the Team has distributed drinking bottles to encourage the use of filtered water as opposed to bottled; provided instructions for duplex printing to save paper; and sent out a page of Green Fun Facts to the staff.
