The Boston Bar Association is pleased to announce that Covington & Burling has joined the BBA as a sponsor organization. The firm, which assists clients with complex business problems, deals, and disputes, joins a growing network of more than 140 sponsor law firms, legal departments, government agencies, non-profits, and law schools contributing to the BBA’s mission to advance the highest standards of excellence for the legal profession, facilitate access to justice, foster a more diverse and inclusive profession, and serve the community.
“Covington is excited to become a new sponsor of the BBA in connection with the opening of its Boston office,” said Mike Labson, Managing Partner of Covington’s Boston office. “The firm is committed to an active role in supporting the local bar associations of the cities and communities where its lawyers practice.”
Founding members of the Boston Office include longtime BBA volunteer, and President-Elect of the Boston Bar Foundation, Megan Gates.
“Megan’s involvement in leadership positions at both the BBA and the BBF have given her first-hand knowledge of the deep relationships, connections, and expertise that are forged through BBA involvement, said Labson. In addition to Gates, six current senior firm lawyers have moved to Boston: Pamela Forrest (Life Sciences Regulatory); Sarah Griffiths (Capital Markets & Securities); Michael Labson (Life Sciences Regulatory); Weishi Li (Life Sciences Transactions); Mona Patel (White Collar); and Paul Rogers (Corporate).
Covington’s new Boston office, which focuses on corporate, transactional, litigation, and investigations practices, opened in Spring of 2023.
“We see tremendous opportunity to expand our current relationships in Boston and believe our unique combination of practices can also benefit Boston’s strong base of technology, financial services, and aerospace and defense companies,” said Doug Gibson, Covington’s chair, in a recent press release.
