Boston Bar Foundation Will Honor Citizens Bank at Adams Ball, Jan. 30

Press Release

The Boston Bar Foundation (BBF), the charitable arm of the Boston Bar Association, has announced that it will present its 2010 Public Service Award to Citizens Bank, recognizing the company’s outstanding commitment to the local community. BBF President Wm. Shaw McDermott will present the Award at the BBF’s annual John and Abigail Adams Benefit on the evening of January 30, 2010 at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.  Jane Willis of Ropes & Gray LLP and Peter Zupcofska of Burns & Levinson LLP are co-chairing this year’s event.

“Citizens Bank is honored to accept this award from the Boston Bar Foundation, an organization highly regarded for its commitment to providing legal services for the underserved” said Robert Matthews, Vice Chairman, Commercial Banking, Citizens Bank.  “We applaud the work of the BBF and share its belief that every person, regardless of economic means, should have fair representation in our legal system.”

This event, a longstanding tradition for movers and shakers in the legal and corporate community, will have a new look and feel this year.  The MFA is a new venue, and the night will feature an active format designed to maximize opportunities for mixing, mingling and enjoying great art.  As the BBF’s largest fundraiser, this year’s John and Abigail Adams Benefit is expected to draw more than 700 attendees.

The BBF is a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation.  Proceeds of the Adams Benefit fund the BBF’s charitable mission – supporting legal services to the poor and the bar’s public interest efforts in and around the City of Boston.
