Boston Bar Foundation to Distribute Nearly $250,000 in Know Your Rights Grants
Press ReleaseThe Boston Bar Foundation (BBF), which serves as the charitable affiliate of the Boston Bar Association (BBA), announced today that it will distribute $247,634 in Know Your Rights grants to 25 Massachusetts organizations working to address concerns about legal rights within our community.
“Through these grants, organizations serving the most vulnerable among us will have additional resources to develop and disseminate Know Your Rights materials and trainings and related translation services so that all Massachusetts residents—regardless of their immigration status or the language they speak—know and are empowered to assert their constitutional rights,” said BBF President Megan Gates.
“During the application review process,” said Krietta Bowens Jones, Chair of the BBF Grants Committee, “it became clear that while immigration has been one of the most pressing matters facing Massachusetts residents, concerns relating to intersecting issues such as domestic violence, education for students with disabilities, housing and eviction, employment justice, and a host of other challenges are also top of mind. By funding a diverse range of projects across varied organizations, we hope to uphold the BBF’s mission to promote justice through innovation in the delivery of legal services.”
