Boston Bar Association Mourns Passing of Judge James P. Lynch, Jr.

         BOSTON – The Boston Bar Association issued the following statement upon learning that Judge James P. Lynch, Jr., retired Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Superior Court, 1988 winner of the BBA’s Haskell Cohn Distinguished Judicial Service Award, and former BBA president, died yesterday:

         “Judge James P. Lynch demonstrated throughout his distinguished career the qualities of mind and character reflecting the highest ideals of the legal profession. With a rare combination of intellect, integrity, vigor and compassion, he enhanced the administration of justice, elevated confidence in the Commonwealth’s judiciary, and the earned deep respect, admiration, and affection of members of the bench and bar alike. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his children, Kathleen Lynch Moncata and Thomas J. Lynch.”
