BBA Now Accepting Nominations for 4th Annual Beacon Award for Diversity & Inclusion

Press Release

The Boston Bar Association today announced that it is accepting nominations throughout the month of June for its prestigious Beacon Award for Diversity & Inclusion. For the fourth year in a row, the Beacon Award — established in 2010 by the BBA’s Diversity & Inclusion Section — will be presented at a special reception to honor an individual or institution that has made particularly notable advancements in promoting diversity in the legal profession.

The recently announced Selection Committee anticipates a large pool of applicants, all of whom have dedicated extraordinary time and effort to creating a more diverse and inclusive environment in the legal community. Some guidelines for nominees include people or organizations that have:

1. Demonstrated achievement in the area of diversity and inclusion in Boston’s legal profession
2. Served as role models for innovation and sustainability for diversity and inclusion
3. Helped to move the frontier of diversity and inclusion in the law or in Greater Boston’s legal profession

Any person or organization that fits these and similar parameters — whether public or private, department or sub-department, individual or organization — will be considered. The list of nominees should reflect the inclusive spirit of the Beacon Award itself.

Submit your nominations by June 25 to Heather Leary: Hleary@bostonbar.org. The nomination form can be found here. The committee may request additional information for those individuals or groups that move into the final round of consideration.

The 2013 Beacon Award Selection Committee is:
