BBA Holds News Conference with Mayor Menino + Chief Justice Roderick Ireland (Media Advisory)

Dedicated to increasing the diversity of the bar and serving the community, the Boston Bar Association will hold a news conference/breakfast on Thursday, June 28 at 9 a.m. at 16 Beacon Street, Boston to welcome 55 Boston public high school students into the 2012 BBA Summer Jobs Program before they head off to paid internships at law firms, legal aid agencies, and public and private legal departments.

Established in 1993, the BBA Summer Jobs Program represents a partnership of the BBA, the Boston Public Schools, and the Boston Private Industry Council. In addition to working at a variety of legal venues, the students will participate in the M. Ellen Carpenter Financial Literacy Program and attend interactive seminars focusing on civics.

Of the 55 students starting work on June 28, 45 will be paid by law firms and public and private legal departments; 10 will work in public interest settings, thanks to a generous grant from the Boston Bar Foundation.
