Press Release

The Boston Bar Association today was delighted to learn that Associate Justice Fernande R.V. Duffly of the Appeals Court has been nominated for elevation to the Supreme Judicial Court by Governor Deval Patrick. BBA President Donald R. Frederico issued the following statement:

“Governor Patrick has made another excellent nomination. Judge Duffly’s impressive range of experience — including fourteen years in private practice, eight years as a judge of the Probate and Family Court, and eleven years on the Massachusetts Appeals Court — will serve the SJC exceptionally well. In addition to having earned a reputation as an outstanding jurist, Judge Duffly is a nationally recognized leader in advancing diversity in the legal profession and in the judiciary.  She also brings a unique life experience that will no doubt help inform the Court’s deliberations in a wide variety of cases.”
