Atwood & Cherny P.C. Signs On as Boston Bar Sponsor Firm

Press Release

Atwood & Cherny P.C., a 10-person divorce and family law firm, has become the Boston Bar Association’s newest sponsor firm. Founded in 1984 by partners Jacob M. Atwood and David E. Cherny, the firm, located in Boston’s Back Bay, concentrates its practice in the area of sophisticated divorce matters.

“Becoming a sponsor firm of the BBA will allow us to join in its work and programs at an even more robust level,” said Mark Smith, partner at Atwood & Cherny. “We are committed to this partnership and to supporting the BBA’s community endeavors.”

Atwood & Cherny has received national recognition as one of the leading family law firms in the country. The firm has been involved in numerous family law cases, several of which have gone to the Supreme Judicial Court and have had a significant role in shaping family law in Massachusetts.

Its members take an active involvement in the BBA: many of their attorneys have been long-time members of the Family Law Section, and both Thomas Ritter and Mark Smith have served as Co-Chairs of the Family Law Education Committee. Smith has also co-chaired the Family Law Public Policy Committee and has been a member of multiple Family Law Section steering committees. Atwood & Cherny attorneys, including David Cherny and Mary Beth Sweeney-Vecchio, have spoken on several BBA program panels and CLE’s.
