On October 30, 2025, the Boston Bar Association held its Spirit of the Bar event, an unforgettable evening celebrating the people and values that define Boston’s legal community: service, leadership, inclusion, and community.
The program opened with thoughtful remarks from BBA President Suma Nair, who reflected on the shared purpose that unites our profession and the importance of using our collective voice to advance justice. The evening continued with a series of moving tributes honoring those who exemplify that spirit: Jessica Chicco and the MIRA Coalition for their tireless advocacy on behalf of immigrant communities; Sullivan & Worcester LLP for their longstanding commitment to pro bono service; and Chief Justice Margaret Marshall, whose leadership and vision continue to inspire generations of lawyers. The celebration also recognized this year’s Mary K. Ryan Award recipients, whose dedication to public service embodies the heart of the BBA’s mission.
Guests enjoyed cocktails and a sit-down dinner as stories of compassion, courage, and commitment filled the room, reminding attendees of the profound impact our members make every day in strengthening our communities and advancing justice across the Commonwealth.
