Kirkland & Ellis Joins as BBA Sponsor Firm

The Boston Bar Association (BBA) is proud to welcome Kirkland & Ellis LLP as a sponsor firm, supporting the BBA’s mission to advance the highest standards of excellence for the legal profession, facilitate access to justice, and serve the community at large.

Kirkland’s Boston office opened in May 2017, providing a local touchpoint to the firm’s longtime private equity clients in Boston and throughout New England. With more than 40 attorneys here in the city and 2,200 lawyers firm-wide, Kirkland aims to provide the highest quality legal services available anywhere; to be an instrumental part of each client's success; and to recruit, retain and advance the brightest legal talent. Kirkland represents global clients in private equity, M&A, restructuring and other complex transactions, litigation/dispute resolution and arbitration, and intellectual property matters.

Like the BBA, Kirkland’s leadership is dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion. Among other programs and initiatives, Kirkland offers a Diversity Scholars Program to first-year law students and a Diversity Fellowship to second-year law students, with the goal of improving the diversity pipeline. The firm’s Women’s Leadership Initiative promotes the recruitment, retention and advancement of women attorneys at the Firm and aims to develop them into leaders within their practice groups, the Firm, the legal profession and the community.

The firm’s commitment to public service is multifaceted, with a strong rate of attorney participation in various pro bono projects. One example is the Kirkland Immigration Network, which engages attorneys in all of Kirkland’s U.S. offices, connecting staff with immigration clients and facilitating knowledge-sharing between attorneys who are experienced in immigration law.

“We are delighted to join the Boston Bar Association,” said Armand Della Monica, a partner in Kirkland’s Boston office and 20-year Kirkland veteran. “Boston is an important business center and one of the country’s top markets for private equity. We look forward to working with the BBA and continuing our effort to be a good corporate citizen in this great city.”

The Boston Bar Association traces its origins to meetings convened by John Adams, who provided pro bono representation to the British soldiers prosecuted for the Boston Massacre and went on to become the nation’s second president. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of excellence for the legal profession, facilitate access to justice, serve the community at large and promote diversity and inclusion.
