Chapter 124, An Act Reforming Alimony in The Commonwealth, was signed by Governor Deval Patrick on September 26, 2011.  This Act substantially transforms alimony cases in Massachusetts and on March 1, 2012, G.L. c. 48 to 55 will go into effect.  Are you ready?

Join us on the eve of the implementation to hear from the members of the Legislative Alimony Task Force.  Judges Paula M. Carey and Angela M. Ordonez will answer all your questions about application of the law and various fact situations.   Attendees will be fully versed on all aspects of the alimony reform law and be prepared to argue before the Court for and against alimony awards, and be prepared to draft alimony provisions for divorce agreements that protect their clients’ interests.

Specific Topics:

- Overview of the New Law
- Phasing In
- Modifications
- Effect of New Alimony Law on Separation Agreements, Premarital and Marital Agreements
- Tax Implications
