Some estimates suggest that more than half of the world population has experienced trauma, meaning that Trauma be a factor in client counseling and advocacy as a solo and small firm practitioner. Trauma can impact the way your clients react to, remember and communicate about all past events, not just traumatic ones. This can make it difficult for attorneys to develop facts from and prepare testimony of clients and other witnesses. Lawyers also run the risk of unintentionally re-traumatizing individuals.

Since Attorneys and other practitioners who serve survivors of violence have developed effective techniques for communicating with and advocating for people experiencing trauma and it’s after-affects. Come and hear about best practices from practitioners on the front lines with their clients and learn how trauma-informed lawyering can improve your legal advocacy.
