BBA Webinar: Lawyer for the Day in Housing Court Training: Frequently Arising Issues for Tenants and Landlords

Wednesday, October 14, 2020 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM

The BBA presents live webinars and virtual events via Zoom. Please register for this program through your BBA account at least two hours before the start time of the program to receive the Zoom webinar link.

Volunteers needed! With the scheduled end of the moratorium on evictions in Massachusetts on October 17th, it is anticipated that there will be an increased need for volunteer attorneys to represent low-income litigants, both tenants and landlords, in Housing Court. These cases can be a part of a pro bono project or cases on which to build a practice.

For LAR certified attorneys, part-two of our Lawyer for the Day in Housing Court training will cover frequently arising legal issues for tenants and landlords in housing court, and how to handle them. Our goal is to guide volunteer attorneys through commonly seen fact patterns for tenants and landlords and to present possible solutions.

This training will guide you through the trial of a case in Housing Court from opening to closing as well as evidentiary issues that may come up. After this training, you will be able to volunteer to assist with the Lawyer for the Day in the Boston Housing Court program.

This program is part of the BBA’s broader effort to promote housing stability for low-income Massachusetts residents who have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and also part of the BBA's Pro Bono Month and Housing Court training series.

Are you already LAR certified or have you volunteered for Lawyer for the Day in Housing Court in the past? If so, please contact Doug Newton at
