The speakers will discuss three areas in which otherwise common issues take unusual twists in the COVID-era.  Brenda Ulrich will address copyright questions related to the move to online learning – both in the virtual classroom and the virtual library.  She will also discuss the software service contracts that accompany the transition to online learning, and the particular issues such contracts can raise for higher education institutions.  Phil Catanzano will discuss unique issues relating to the types of disability accommodations being requested and the different ways that institutions are managing these issues.  Some examples include requests surrounding face mask obligations, considerations for service or emotional support animals on campus, and different ways to consider in-person versus distance learning-related accommodations.  Gretchen Groggel Ralston will speak to her experiences in transitioning a higher education institution to this new reality, with a particular focus on the challenges related to preserving clinical education and internship experiences for students across a range of academic programs.
