2020 Law School Graduate Mentoring: Bar Coaching and Career Transition Coaching Mentor Kickoff Event

Thursday, June 11, 2020 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

About the program:

The Boston Bar Association is launching an effort to support 2020 Law Graduates as they transition into the profession. We are seeking lawyers who are interested in coaching law students who are taking the bar exam during this stressful time. Additionally, we are seeking coaches to work with new lawyers who are entering the profession as it adjusts to a rapidly changing public health crisis and an uncertain economy.

You can choose to be a coach for the bar exam, for lawyers needing some advice for starting their career on the right foot, or both. To be a coach, we do ask that you attend a training session on Zoom to be scheduled.  After that, you can arrange a video, telephone, or email conversation with your soon-to-be-admitted lawyer at least once a week to provide guidance. Both programs are supported with optional round table sessions and professional development programs for the students.

About the event:

This event will officially kick off the bar and career coaching programs. All who have signed up to be a mentor are welcome, as are all who are interested in learning more about the program! We will dive into novel issues presented to bar applicants and new lawyers in light of COVID-19, and techniques to help them manage the stress and expectations. For coaches assisting a bar applicant, we will also provide comprehensive guidance on preparing an applicant for the bar exam.  If you would like to sign up as a coach now, please complete this online survey. If you have any questions about the program, please contact Doug Newton at
