POSTPONED - CLE: Family Law Trial Practice Skills For Newer Lawyers

Monday, March 16, 2020 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

Becoming confident in your own trial preparation and practice skills as a newer attorney practicing in the Probate and Family Court can be daunting.  The stakes are high, the parties are anxious, and you want to make a good impression on both the Court and your client.  Have you read the trial order correctly?  What deadlines should you ensure that you do not miss? How do you correctly prepare uncontested and contested exhibit books? What are motions in limine and what types of trial issues are ripe for discussion within the context of a motion in limine?  What are some objections that you should have at the ready during trial testimony and what do they really mean?  How might you be able to put forward your best possible direct examination(s) and be ready for an effective cross examination?
The Probate and Family Court itself is similarly interested in seeing that the lawyers who practice before its judges are appropriately prepared and have the trial skills expected of them in order to improve the chances of a smooth trial.  We are thrilled to be joined by the Honorable John D. Casey, Chief Justice of the Probate and Family Court, as well as a distinguished panel of practitioners, for a substantive program that is targeted to provide attorneys who are looking to further develop trial practice skills in the Probate and Family Court with the basic skills and knowledge that they need as they prepare for trial.
