209A Basics Training

Description:

This training covers the basics of advocating for clients in 209A abuse prevention proceedings. It will provide an overview of 209A law and procedure and walk you through the process of preparing for and conducting a 209A hearing. It will also discuss the dynamics of an abusive relationship and provide information and skills that are needed to advocate for survivors of abuse in court.

After this seminar, attendees will know what the dynamics of an abusive relationship are and what information and skills are needed to advocate for survivors of abuse in court.

The Women’s Bar Foundation will extend volunteers opportunities around 209A proceedings. Other organizations like the GBLS or the VLP will also be good resources for volunteers to practice the skills learned from this training.
