Interested in bankruptcy law but don’t know where to start? Join our
expert panel to learn the basics of chapter 7. This program will cover all
aspects of representing a consumer debtor in a chapter 7 case: the initial
client interview, preparing the petition and schedules, conducting due diligence
and avoiding common pitfalls, attending the § 341 meeting, and finally, getting
the client their bankruptcy discharge.
At the conclusion of the training, there will be a
reception with experienced attorneys who have volunteered to serve as
bankruptcy mentors. Attendees of this training are asked to sign up to represent a chapter
7 debtor pro bono through the Volunteer Lawyers Project and will be paired with
a mentor who will walk you through your first case. It’s a great
opportunity to learn a new area of law, make a meaningful professional connection, and
help an indigent debtor get relief.
