Extreme Weather Events: Aspects of Risks, Liabilities, and Resiliency at Industrial and Municipal Facilities

Tuesday, June 18, 2019 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

The threat of extreme weather events is affecting the design, finance, risks of adverse community and environmental impacts and legal liabilities associated with industrial and municipal facilities. Assessment of risks from storms and flooding to facility operations and infrastructure, communities and the environment requires a geographic-specific approach to planning and protection as the aftermath of these events can have dramatic impacts on business operations, chemical releases, environmental harm and a wide variety of legal liabilities.  The panel explores risk assessment advances and inputs to resiliency efforts associated with these types of facilities, including regulatory and litigation risks, and potential mitigation techniques.
