Immigration Law as it Relates to Representing Health Care Providers: What is the Diagnosis?

Tuesday, September 26, 2017 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

With a growing shortage of physicians and dentists in the USA, many small to large hospitals, clinics, and other health care organizations are relying on foreign trained healthcare providers to fill their employee ranks.  Have recent policy changes and the heated national environment affected these employment opportunities?  The discussion will address some of the unique visa programs available for foreign trained physicians and dentists and an overview of the visa sponsorship process.

This program is geared to business and health law attorneys that represent health care providers (hospitals, clinics, community health centers & private practices) and seek to gain a basic understanding of the visa categories and issues involved.

Program discussions will include:

  • What is the H1 work visa?
  • How can I hire a physician to work at our clinic that treats patients in an underserved community?
  • Can my organization sponsor a limited license dentist?
  • How difficult is it to hire a physical therapist and sponsor them for a green card?
