Training: Assist Homeowners Facing Tax Foreclosure

Monday, December 15, 2014 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

The BBA is excited to launch a new pro bono project to address an issue for Massachusetts households – the foreclosure of real estate tax liens. Homeowners caught in this foreclosure process do not understand that if successful, they not only lose possession of their house, they lose any equity they may have. This training session will provide you with an in-depth look at how the Land Court handles tax title foreclosures and will give you the information  you need to explain the process to these homeowners. After attending this training, you can sign up to be on call to assist homeowners at the Land Court's Thursday Tax Title Sessions . Don’t miss the opportunity to take part in the BBA’s new Land Court Pro Bono Program and help homeowners hold onto their property.

Attorneys will be asked for proof of malpractice insurance prior to signing up for volunteer sessions. Law students are welcome to attend but will be unable to volunteer for the program.
