"Logorama": A Case Study in Trademark and Copyright Fair Use

Monday, June 25, 2012 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

We will present a screening of Logorama, a 16-minute movie that won the 2010 Oscar for Best Animated Short.  Logorama features a Quentin Tarantino-inspired narrative set in a Los Angeles cityscape entirely populated by trademarked characters (watch out for Ronald McDonald).  Over 2,500 contemporary and historical trademarks and logos are on display in this dark and gritty comedy.

Following the film screening, David Kluft and Jenevieve Maerker will lead a discussion of trademark and copyright issues suggested by the film, with a focus on fair use and its boundaries in both artistic and commercial contexts.

Special permission to screen the film has been provided by Shorts International.
