Donate Your Time: Represent Claimants Seeking Unemployment Benefits
Wednesday, May 30, 2012
4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA
Description:
Unemployment insurance is a critical safety net
during periods of joblessness and representation at hearings often makes the critical difference in insuring that claimants
get the unemployment benefits they need and deserve. This program
will guide you through the intricacies of the unemployment system and
the information you need to represent clients at hearings. As unemployed
workers often cannot afford to hire a lawyer and cutbacks to
legal services funding have resulted in reduced resources, you will be providing
an invaluable service by volunteering through the Volunteer Lawyers Project to handle
these cases. This is a joint project of Volunteer Lawyers Project
and Greater Boston Legal Services.
