Suma Nair is the Chief Fiduciary Officer of Fiduciary Trust Company in Boston, overseeing the fiduciary services and activities both there and at its New Hampshire affiliate, Fiduciary Trust of New England. She also leads the firm’s trust and estates legal department, which received the 2021 Best Estate Planning Advisory Services Award from Private Asset Management. Suma enjoys using her and her team’s extensive trust and estates expertise to effectively protect and serve clients’ interests across generations. She was named by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly in 2021 as one of the “Top Women of Law,” and Chambers High Net Worth recognized her for five years when she was previously in private practice. She is a frequent speaker and panelist on estate planning and trust administration topics. Suma is the Treasurer of the BBA and is a member of the BBA Executive Committee. She has previously served as BBA and BBF Secretary, as well as on the BBA Council and BBA Executive Committee, and the 2017 BBA Strategic Planning Committee, while chairing the Governance Subcommittee. She has also served as Co-Chair of the Trusts & Estates Section and of the Annual Meeting Steering Committee. Suma is a member of the BBF Society of Fellows. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, and a member of the Board of Directors of the ACLU of Massachusetts. Suma is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Harvard Law School.
