Marty is a partner at Foley Hoag LLP where he represents individuals, companies, educational institutions, non-profits, and law firms in complex civil litigation, criminal investigations, and regulatory proceedings. He has served as President, President-Elect, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary of the BBA, as Chair of the Joint Finance Committee, Chair of the Immigration Working Group, and a member of the BBA Executive Committee and the Amicus Committee. He has also served as Co-Chair of the Criminal Justice Reform Working Group, the White Collar Crime Conference Advisory Committee, the Death Penalty Working Group, the BBA Task Force to Prevent Wrongful Convictions, and the Criminal Law Section. Marty is a member of the BBF Society of Fellows. He has served as the BBA’s designee on the Massachusetts Special Commission to Study the Commonwealth’s Criminal Justice System. Beyond the Boston Bar, he serves on the Board of the Criminal Justice Act Panel for the District of Massachusetts, on the Board of Directors of the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts, and as a Regent of the American College of Trial Lawyers. From 2010-2015 he served as a Commissioner of the Massachusetts State Ethics Commission. Marty, a former state and federal prosecutor, also served as a law clerk to the late Hon. A. David Mazzone of the United States District Court. 

Marty is a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Law School.
