Esme is Faculty Director of the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau and a Clinical Professor of Law at Harvard Law School, where her research and teaching focus on housing law and policy, poverty law, and professional responsibility. Esme is a member of the BBF Society of Fellows and has been a member of the BBF Grants Committee since 2005. She is a Commissioner and a member of the Executive Committee of the Massachusetts Access to Justice Commission, where she co-chairs the Housing Committee and is a member of the Access to Attorneys Committee.

Esme is a graduate of Harvard-Radcliffe College and Harvard Law School.
