Edward Zacharias is the Managing Partner of McDermott Will and Emery LLP’s Boston office. He is a partner in the firm’s Healthcare Practice Group and serves as co-head of McDermott’s Digital Health practice. Ed provides strategic legal and regulatory guidance during the conception, development, launch and support of digital health products and services. He structures sophisticated data development, use and disclosure frameworks designed to help clients execute strategically important business objectives while avoiding legal pitfalls. He also manages complex, high-profile ransomware attacks and other cybersecurity incidents, guiding clients through all aspects of incident response, remediation, and related federal and state government investigations. Ed has extensive experience negotiating favorable resolutions on behalf of clients when these investigations result in allegations of noncompliance. Ed’s clients include large technology companies, health information technology and digital health companies, healthcare providers, insurers, electronic health record platforms, pharmacies, drug and device manufacturers, life sciences companies and health services vendors. Ed is a member of McDermott’s Pro Bono and Community Service Committee and the firm’s Integrity and Compliance Committee. He is also a member of the American Health Lawyers Association. At the BBA, Edward is a member of the Law Firm Leadership Forum. He is also a former Public Interest Leadership Program member. Ed is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and a graduate of Boston College and Boston University School of Law, and he holds a master’s degree in Bioethics from Case Western Reserve University.
