Anita P. Sharma is the Executive Director of and a senior staff attorney at PAIR, specializing in asylum law. Joining PAIR in 2002. Anita has been selected as a Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers Magazine and as a member of Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s Circle of Excellence Award. She has been named as a member of the Barr Foundation Fellowship program, a prestigious four-year program for civic leaders. Anita has also been selected as a lead innovator of the Social Innovation Forum’s (SIF) Innovator’s Program. She has been honored by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly for its Top Women of Law Award and received the Unsung Heroine of Massachusetts Award from the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women. Anita serves as Co-Chair of the Liaison Committee on Asylum for the New England Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and is a member of the Immigration Lawyers Association. At the BBA, Anita is a member of the Delivery of Legal Services Section Steering Committee. She is a former Co-Chair of the BBA’s Immigration Section and has served as a Mentor for the BBA’s Group Mentoring Program. Anita was selected for the 2008-2009 BBA’s Public Interest Leadership Program, during which time she formed a project to increase pro bono interest in detention work. She is a graduate of Suffolk University, Suffolk University Law School, and American University Law School.
