Description:
Recent years have seen an increasingly diverse range of climate change
litigation throughout the United States. Join us as our panel, moderated
by Rishi Reddi, Director of Environemtnal Justice at EEA, focuses on
two key high-profile damages cases at the forefront of this issue: Juliana
v. United States, and Conservation Law Foundation v. ExxonMobil
Corp .
Julia Olson, lead counsel for Plaintiffs in Juliana - 21 youth and
organizational plaintiff Earth Guardians - will discuss her clients’
constitutional climate lawsuit against the U.S. government. Their complaint
asserts that the United States has engaged in conduct that caused or allowed
climate change, violating the youngest generation’s constitutional rights to
life, liberty, and property, and that the United States has failed to protect
essential public trust resources.
Alexandra St. Pierre will discuss CLF v. ExxonMobil , in which CLF
has filed suit against ExxonMobil for allegedly leaving its oil storage
facilities in Everett and elsewhere vulnerable to flooding from storms and
rising seas.
