M. Ellen Carpenter, Esq.

Ellen Carpenter , one of Boston ’s leading bankruptcy practitioners and a partner at the Boston law firm of Roach & Carpenter, P.C. She served her term as Boston Bar Association president in 2004-05 and is former chair of the Boston Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Committee and the Solo and Small Firm Section. She is also former chair of the Board of Bar Overseers.

Eugene B. Benson, Esq.
Alternatives for Community & Environment

Eugene Benson provides legal counsel and representation for community groups and coalitions and ACE member committees fighting for environmental justice. Before joining ACE in 2003, Gene was Associate General Counsel, Environmental Law, Massachusetts Water Resources Authority. His earlier positions include Executive Director, Cambridge and Somerville Legal Services, Cambridge , MA ; and Chief Attorney, Legal Aid Bureau, Frederick , MD. In September 2005, Gene started a two-year term as co-chair of the Boston Bar Association Environmental Law Section.

John H. Chu, Esq.
Chu, Ring & Hazel LLP

John H. Chu is the co-founding and managing partner of Chu, Ring & Hazel LLP, where he focuses on the representation of growing enterprises, venture capital transactions, and mergers and acquisitions. John began his legal career as an associate at a major Wall Street law firm active in takeovers and mergers and acquisitions. He followed this experience by starting up his own direct mail company. After that, and before forming Chu, Ring & Hazel LLP, he became associated with and was named partner of one of Boston's major law firms and in due course concentrated his activities in that firm's entrepreneurial services group.

John is a member of several national and local bar organizations and currently serves on the Boston Bar Association Council. He also serves as a director or advisory board member of several start-up companies and is a trustee of the Wang Center.

Kimberly Jones’ practice focuses on labor and employment law, first amendment law, business law and civil litigation. Kimberly offers employment law seminars designed to educate and update managerial and supervisory personnel in all facets of employment law including discrimination, harassment, MCAD and EEOC proceedings and preventative measures concerning employment-related issues within the workplace.

Kimberly is the Vice President of the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association. She is also a member of the Boston Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the National Bar Association.

Mark Warner is a partner in the Boston law firm of Witmer, Karp & Warner LLP where he concentrates his practice in divorce and other family law cases, as well as contested probate matters. Mark is in his third year as Chair of the BBA’s Education Committee. He is also President of the Massachusetts Family and Probate American Inn of Court, past co-chair of the Family Law Section of the Boston Bar Association and a member of the Guardian ad litem Standards Review Committee of the Probate and Family Court.
