Massachusetts Tax Update: Annual Spotlight on Recent Developments

This seminar will provide a comprehensive review of legislative changes, regulations and other administrative pronouncements, as well as new case law addressing Massachusetts tax issues since May, 2005. The program will focus on: Corporate Excise Taxes, Sales/Use Taxes, Personal Income Taxes, and Tax Procedure.

This year there will be substantial participation by attorneys at the Rulings and Regulations Bureau of the Department of Revenue. They will address recent or expected guidance on many topics, including:

  • The new penalties on taxpayers and preparers;
  • Apportionment;
  • Security corporations;
  • Electronic commerce;
  • Economic Opportunity Area Credit;
  • UBIT;
  • Research and development;
  • Taxation of non-residents;
  • Add back of interest and intangible expense;
  • Abatement procedure and the effect of federal and state changes; and
  • Responsible persons.
