Perspective of the bench, bar and college admissions

This unique program designed for family law practitioners will review the increasing cost of college education and recent trends in specialized support, providing viewpoints from the bench, bar and college admissions.

Attendees will learn what consideration the court gives to a parent’s responsibility to contribute to a child’s education and the effect of such consideration on child support contributions. In addition, the panel will review relevant case law, and suggest helpful discovery tips and creative drafting techniques.

Specific topics to be discussed include:

  • Contribution to college: funding, parent and child obligations, affect on child support
  • Specialized support: special needs, extra curricular, private school
  • Discovery issues: family trusts, custodial accounts
  • College admissions and financial aid

Materials from this program will include unique agreements relative to college contributions.
